As your archive grows, each new post should strengthen older posts. Internal links do that job.
Start with intent, not volume
Do not add random links. Add links where the reader naturally asks, “What should I read next?”
For baseline structure, see Hello World. For publishing rhythm, see Second Post.
Use tags as your map
Pick tags that represent the core topic of the article. Shared tags create better related-post matches and better crawl paths.
A simple rule:
- 1 primary topic tag
- 1 supporting topic tag
- 1 optional context tag
Add links while drafting
Insert 2-3 links during the first draft, not after publication. That keeps links contextual and useful.
Use this quick pass before merge:
- Add one link in the introduction
- Add one link in the body where a concept is explained
- Add one link in the conclusion for next-step reading
